With Christmas is the far distance it is annoying to many to even start thinking about it…
However the shops are beginning to put up their decorations, the endless loop of your least favourite Christmas “Hit” is every where you go and at some point the mad panic will ensue to buy presents left right and centre for each and every one o your nearest and dearest.
With this in mind it is an ideal time to consider if your website and online marketing is going to bring in maximum sales over the last weeks of the year.
The most important thing during the festive period for our retail customers is to maximise sales, this can be acheived in many ways from having special offers to taking part in festive markets or even sending your loyal customers email to let them know your shop will have what they are looking for.
However do you have a Google shopping feed.
At AME WebTech we have found google shopping feed to be one of the quickest and most effective ways of boosting sales from your website in a very short amount of time.
If you are using Magento or WooCommerce/WordPress as your online shopping platform this can be set up with in a few days and put links to the products you sell to the top of google.
Google offers a service called the “Merchant Centre” this is a tool that complements google ad-words.
In a nutshell the merchant centre allows you to supply a list of all or some of your products to appear in google shopping results with out needing to provide any key words and phrases as you would in a standard ad-words campaign, instead data about your products is sent across to google servers which is then checked to ensure it complies with their terms and conditions.
Once validated you can then decide how much you would like to spend a day for your products to appear plus how much you would like to pay per click,
For example you could test this by setting up a £50 budget for a week and set up a payment of 10p for every click for all your products this would equal up to 500 clicks a week.
Because the result people have searched for is completely relevant to their search the chances of purchase are high not just that they would have already seen what the product looks like in the search results.
Depending on how people search or use google there are 2 places where your products may appear.
I searched for “blue duvet cover” from the normal google search and was presented with the normal search results with links to purchase blue duvet covers right at the top of google, each time you search the product may also change.
This normally happens with in an hour of your campaign going live but google do advise it can take up to 48 hours before all your products are available.
Ignoring all the technicalities of what is and isn’t allowed on the feed your are getting instant engagement with your customers, they can see how much you charge for your products, an image of them plus your company name.
Now running the same search but clicking on the shopping tab/area with in google will show all results but also allow people to filter by price, brand etc, depending on the type of product that is being searched for different filters will appear.
As demonstrated having a google shopping feed gives a great deal of visibility of products on your website, the information provided on the result means that if someone is happy with the price and the image of the product they are likely to click and potentially purchase a product and can greatly increase conversions on your website.
Once you daily/weekly budget is spent google will stop displaying your products in the shopping areas of google however the chances of someone purchasing from your website as a result of this kind of search is much higher then if they where to use the standard text descriptions normally displayed in a google results list.
At AME WebTech we can set up test and get all your products in to a google shopping feed, we can also advise you on compliance to ensure all your products appear and don’t get blocked, once the adverts are in place depending on what you sell you may notice a quick increase in sales not just ensuring your customers have a merry Christmas but so do you.
