As time goes on we forget how basic the internet used to be, companies like google started off allowing us to search for content before then adding maps, adverts and other features that seem normal today. However every now and again something new appears that could change how we use the internet.
In this case Google have allowed fast food delivery companies to integrate directly with their search results to allow users to order food with out even visiting a website.
The long term goal appears to be to allow people using voice searches over google devices such as smart phones and echo to order take away with out needing to do anything more then asking for 2 margarita pizzas from dominoes to be delivered.
The internet is constantly growing and yesterdays dreams have become the reality for today, the main difference is that these changes seem to be available for smaller businesses as well as larger companies.
Being able to simply ask for something to be delivered opens a lot of doors and opportunities for companies to react to customers with out having any direct interaction with them.
Lets think further down the line, say if you have a leak at home you can simply ask your smart device to get a plumber to come to your house, you out of milk you can simply say add milk to my shopping list and once your ready to order you food say OK lets get that delivered on Thursday.
Whilst these features are predictive we are not too far away from being able to achieve these things and many more.
Depending on the type of business will determine how these services work however a lot of the time this information is crawled off company websites by Google or published via an API attached to a website, the truth of the matter is that not much has changed regarding the need to have a website more the different ways people , customers and other systems will be interacting with your website.
Lets not jump on to any wagons just yet, this is a trial for a small number of companies that take orders on behalf of take away restaurants in the US.
